Established on 20 December 2019, America's newest military branch is the U.S. Space Force. Space Force Guardians currently serve on Active duty under the Department of the Air Force. Guardians protect and defend our nation in and from the space domain by providing space support to our Combatant Commanders.
Established on 14 June 1775, the U.S. Army is the oldest branch of the military. Soldiers serve as Active, Guard or Reserve forces. The Army was essential to gaining America's independence during the Revolutionary War and has been involved in every major conflict in our nation's history.
Established on 10 November 1775, the U.S. Marine Corps operates under the Department of the Navy. Marines serve in both Active and Reserve components, and typically serve on shore and aboard ships around the world to provide rapid response to crisis. Their unique air, land and sea capabilities make Marines the"First to Fight" in crisis.
Established on 13 October 1775, the U.S. Navy projects American power globally by dominating the maritime domain. Sailers serve in Active or Reserve components. The Navy operates under, on and over the seas to fulfill its global power projection mission.
Established on 18 September 1947, the U.S. Air Force provides global vigilance, power, and reach to help defend our nation and deter aggression worldwide. Airmen serve in Active, Guard or Reserve components. The Air Force and predecessor organizations dating back to the early 20th Century have fought in every war since World War I.
Established on 13 December 1636, America's National Guard is comprised of our nation's part time citizen service members and is not a separate military service. National Guard Soldiers and Airmen are integral to defending our homeland as well as supporting disaster relief, reconstruction efforts and overseas peacekeeping and combat missions.
Established on 4 August 1790, the U.S. Coast Guard serves under the Department of Homeland Security in peacetime and the Department of the Navy in wartime. As both a military branch and federal law enforcement agency, the Coast Guard protects our waterways, ports, and coastlines.

Trivia is back! The first fall Trivia contest is Wednesday 27 September from 7 to 9 p.m. in the bar.The VFW Dart League will run from 1 October until 9 December. There are no set dates or times for dart games, but competitors must play three games each week and a tournament week runs from Sunday to Saturday.A Tailgate Party will be held on Sunday 8 October from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.The annual "Wing Off" event will be held on Saturday 14 October from 1 to 4 p.m. Tickets are on sale starting Monday 18 September and the final day to buy tickets is Monday 9 October. There are 20 tickets on sale for "sauce makers" and 80 tickets on sale for "taste testers." Ballots will be issued on the day of the Wing Off.The next two Bar Bingos will be held on Monday 16 and Monday 30 October from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.Stephanie and the Wild Hearts will perform on Saturday 21 October from 8 to 11 p.m.The October Trivia contest will be held on Wednesday 25 October from 7 to 9 p.m.Krazy Kat Daddies will perform on Friday 27 October from 9 to 12 p.m.Our Halloween Party will be held on Saturday 28 October from 8 to 11 p.m. with Frequency as the feature entertainer!The Past Times will perform on Sunday 29 October from 2 to 5 p.m.
The Windber Moose will host the annual Veterans dinner on 15 November. Veterans must sign up on the clipboard in VFW Post 4795 to attend.
Our Post Auxiliary is now assisting with the local "Wreaths Across America" program and we encourage everyone to purchase wreaths to place on veteran's graves before Christmas. The annual wreath laying this year is on Saturday December 16th. If you purchase 2 wreaths the program will donate 1 more wreath free. Information is posted on our bulletin boards or contact Lory Borischak at 814-659-5050.
